What is a “grid event”?

A period lasting a few minutes to a few hours when the electricity grid needs more power, causing grid operators to seek additional power resources. A group of EV batteries spread over a utility territory can collectively serve as a “virtual power plant” (VPP), preventing the need for additional fossil fuels (“peaker plants”) to be burned to meet needs in such moments of “peak” electricity demand.
