How are V2G program incentives paid out?
Rebates are paid as reimbursement 6-8 weeks post-install, and ongoing V2G incentives are paid annually. (V2H savings are reflected on your monthly utility bill.)
Incentives fall into two buckets: 1) One-time rebates, and 2) ongoing incentives.
1. One-time rebates. Following your upfront purchase, rebates on the charging package hardware and installation should be sent reimbursement from Bidirectional Energy 6-8 weeks after installation, assuming two items:
- You submit receipts and respond to Bidirectional Energy questions in a timely manner
- Grant providers (see entity names below) don’t experience unforeseen delays in sending us reimbursement, which Bidirectional Energy quickly passes on to drivers in our program. Grants providers are as follows:
- CA: the California Energy Commission (CEC)
- CT: the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA)
2. Ongoing incentives. For the duration of your state’s program (see California and Connecticut), your participation payments will be paid based on your level of V2G program participation.
These events will be determined by your utility when the grid is under strain and they will bay for extra energy from your EV. When your EV takes part in these grid events, we relay your participation logged in the Bidirectional Energy app to the entity funding in vehicle-to-grid programs. These will be paid out at the end of the year.
Once Bidirectional Energy receives V2G payouts from the following entities, we forward customers their participation payment. The the funding for the respective CA and CT programs comes from:
- California Energy Commission (CEC) re: the REDWDS V2G program
- Connecticut Public Utility Regulatory Authority (PURA) that leads the Innovative Energy Solutions (IES) program, which funds the Grid-Supportive Residential Bidirectional EV Chargers Project grant
V2H utility bill savings are reflected on your monthly utility bill.
