How does Bidirectional Energy make money?

Like you, we earn performance payments in these programs.

Like you, we get paid for performance in these grid-supporting programs. Utilities and energy markets pay those who support the grid; many already offer programs for businesses to make money for doing this, as it reduces the grid's need to fire up additional (often carbon-intensive) power plants to meet electricity needs.

Through pre-existing utility partnerships and energy market engagements, Bidirectional Energy facilitates homeowners serving the grid through demand response (DR) and similar programs. We do this through aggregating multiple customer EV batteries into a single “virtual power plant” (VPP) for use when the utility needs. This removes the need for that gas power plant to start burning fossil fuels.

When the utility pays us for sending power back to the grid, we split the utility payout with you as a program participant.
