Do I have to participate in V2G to be involved in Bidirectional Energy programs?
To receive any program-associated rebates without agreeing to a minimum of 12 months of V2G participation, you will need to opt-in to both saving on your utility bill (V2H) as well as earn rewards (V2G). However, you are not required to be at home and plugged-in for the V2G grid events. If you are plugged-in during a grid event, we will nominate your charger to participate and earn money.
If you do choose to opt-out of V2G grid events while participating in our California and Connecticut programs, you will be at risk of losing out on the program rebates. This includes rebates issued through the REDWDS program in California (see terms) and, in Connecticut, the Grid-Supportive Residential Bidirectional EV Chargers Project (see terms) funded by the Innovative Energy Solutions (IES) initiative.
